we are all fans first, so list your team and the teams you don't want to see them play in the playoffs.

Buffalo

Ottawa and Montreal

Ottawa because the Sabres have just always struggled against them, seems like no matter what the senators are going to give the Sabres fits.

Montreal because they seem to be catching fire and the right time, this team makes me nervous, they could do some damage in a best of seven series.

Leafs in the East and Columbus in the West because if either team make's it this season, it mean the END is near.

All jokes aside.....

New Jersey in the East and Detroit in the West because both these teams are winners and can do anything once the big dance starts. They have more bling in the last 15 years than all the other teams combined... Only Pittsburgh and the Av's are the other current qualifiers who have won a Cup in the last 15 years.

Your Cup winner WILL be one of these four teams... Caps can't beat BOTH...... NJ and PITT.

you do not want to play the wings in the first round

As an Ottawa fan I find myself hoping the Sens finish in the 6th spot as opposed to the 5th.

Would much rather play Buffalo for the above noted reasons than either New Jersey or Pitts even though Miller can be deemed to be the best goalie in the East.

If I had to choose right now - I think I would rather play Pitts then face New Jersey.

PHX or CHI

Would like to play the kings these last two games have proved what an intense match up that would be difficult but guaranteed to be a great match

I'd say a lot of teams don't want to meet New Jersey, or out in the West,Detroit

A team everyone would like to play would be San Jose, who could end up being the #5 seed by the time the playoffs come around

avsfan135 says:

I would love to play the red wings in the first round

Canes wont slip in Lipps.. little to late of a run.. but man they are playing good puck
Lippsman says:
03/25/10 11:53AM

Yeah it would be a long shot for sure.  Actually I think Atlanta will slip in that 8th spot.

buffalo is an ideal opponent since they are not a physical team, seeing torres out last nite really showed how soft they are up front, best matchup by far for the habs.
K4ngur13 says:

My team: Penguins

Teams I don't want to see in Playoffs (becasue I hate them): Devils & Bruins

DoubleUp4Life says:
03/25/10 05:03PM

See the Bruins or Flyers slipping ???

DoubleUp4Life says:
03/25/10 05:04PM

I Have to disagree....

On Both the Physical part and wanting to play the Sabres ....

target_9 says:
03/25/10 06:17PM

I'm a Ranger's fan!!!! I'll take any opponent at this point!!!! Just getting in would be a miracle!!!!!

Senators

We're getting bumped in the first round regardless.

platypus says:
03/25/10 06:34PM

+1

I would prefer for my habs to play the sabres over any team in the eastern conference

Definitely not in this forum - that crap might fly in the NBA or NFL forums, but not here...

wiggins says:

The funny part of the dudes post is that he criticizes Hab fans for wanting to play the Sabres despite their domination of Montreal, yet in the next sentence wants his Sabres to play the Sens despite being dominated by Ottawa.

Really think come playoff time the Devils might be the Beasts of the East....

for some strange reason I am not that afraid of the Pens or Caps

Polar_Bear says:
03/26/10 12:57PM

Flyers

Edmonton Oilers or Toronto Maple Leafs

What? They can't make it? Whew!

A lot more pride in losing 4 straight to Washington...

vicb says:
03/26/10 01:25PM
what about if i dont want my team IN the Playoffs?

FLYERS!
MrZamboni says:
03/26/10 01:28PM
I would say Detroit and Chicago
Flutiemaniac341 says:
03/26/10 02:31PM

anyone with a goalie playing the caps has a shot!

fleury has looked shaky all year, not sure im scared of playing the pens.

jersey have little depth defensively and have been playoff duds the last half decade.

sabres just dont play playoff hockey, too many floaters. if miller doesnt play unreal they have no shot at going anywhere.

really the eastern conference is far weaker than the western conference. anybody in the east has a good shot to make the cup finals.

the rags could definitely make some noise if they get in the playoffs! King Henrik can carry them much like a Ryan Miller can, for sure!

Flutiemaniac341 says:
03/28/10 03:51PM

i think an empty net is more intimidating to the shooters than jose theodore or varlamov. their goaltending is terrible right now and its only the regular season. their goalies will definitely choke come playoff time.

Flutiemaniac341 says:
03/30/10 01:00AM
imwithcoco, youd think someone with a picture of conan would understand sarcasm
Flutiemaniac341 says:
03/30/10 01:17AM

show me theodore's record in the post season now.

wanna know what huet's record was when he came to washington..?

11-2 1.63 gaa .936 save % in the regular season

how he do in the playoffs again vs the flyers?

regular season means nothing, its another season come playoff time.

theodore is a notorious choker!

Flutiemaniac341 says:
03/30/10 10:25AM

lol..hes never gotten past the 2nd round, left out that minor detail didnt you!

Flutiemaniac341 says:
03/30/10 10:26AM
and varlamov played one year and got eliminated 2nd round. lol what experience!
LeRinkRat says:
03/27/10 01:52AM

sorry, vicb. he obviously ment Crosby BUT I couldn't resist

LeRinkRat says:
03/26/10 02:20PM

I will say the Rangers IF they back into the playoffs which just might happen after the Devils giving them 2 free points last night in New Jersey. IF the Flyers or Bruins fade, which both seem to be doing lately,

and if the Rags DO get in and Lundqvist gets HOT, it's  time...

LeRinkRat says:
03/26/10 03:22PM

(hint: their captain looks like this )

Mike Richards and the Flyers?

the Capitals goaltending situation reminds me a lot of my Penguins in the early 1990's. Tommy Barrasso, in my opinion, was a very average goalie BUT the Pens scored SO damn many GOALS that it didn't make a shit IF he allowed 3 or 4 GA's a game because Mario and company would blast in upwards of 5.

even with tighter defenses and better goalie equipment keeping scores down in the "modern" game, the Caps fire power still fits that mold.

unless something really weird happens, like another teams goalie doing a 1993 Patrick Roy, the Caps should win the East.

vicb says:
03/28/10 03:57PM

Its cool Rink,i just kiddin around..........seems as though Richards is being the baby in that Flyers dressing room so you may be right.

vicb says:
03/26/10 07:37PM

That hurts Rink Rat

No Theodore only got yanked from one he started casue he could not stop the puck and it was evident that they WOULD lose the series if they allowed him to go back in net where he could NOT stop the puck. I like the way he is playing personally and he has shown up well for some biug games but his record does mean absolutely zero as he will be judged by how he plays in the latter part of April and May if he is still playing....

LOL. fans are too damn funny sometimes, you cant be hating on all montreal fans or any other teams fans for that matter, just dumb to hate someone for liking (loving) a certain team, take a few hits and chill buddy.
qster says:

Detroit!
They are back to being a healthy team and they are on FIRE!!!

I see the Wings finishing 5th in the conference after their run
Skubishack says:
03/27/10 12:43AM

Thrashers are going fishing, they flat out suck when pressured by a team with 1/2 a talented squad that can stop a shot on goal... NYR will be #8... the NYR win at Toronto combined with ATL loss and Philly LOSSES tomorrow will finally make everyone start to see the picture I've been looking at for weeks now.

Then NYR's go home in first round...

HAWKS MY TEAM!!!!!! To be honest I kinda hope we get Wings in the first round cuz if we can't beat them we don't deserve to win the damn Cup anyway. If we do beat them the momentum gained would be pretty hard to stop. Vancouver --when Luongo gets it together does scare me though in the West. In the east people can blow it out their asses bout Caps all they want but their goaltending is a huge question mark--just like the Hawks. The team to beat obviously is Pittsburgh in the east
avsfan135 says:
03/26/10 05:49PM

Bout time I got a response to that!

would you like your team to the AVS??

BooBunny says:
03/26/10 06:30PM
Bruins

Let me preface this by saying they are not worthy of a spot but if they sneak in...I do not want them to face NJ. That team will have to be reckoned with imo. Once they get into their playoff mode...their trap and Brodeur will make any team sweat.

I agree with Lipps that the B's and/or Flyers could be caught by the Trash.

ImWithCoco says:
03/26/10 02:41PM

Hmmm, so all it takes to have a shot in the playoffs is having a goalie.  So what you are saying is any of the 7 other Eastern (and  1 Western team) has a shot at beating the caps.  Well damn, I thought that strategy of playing 60 minutes of empty net hockey was a good one
ImWithCoco says:
03/30/10 12:57AM

Ya makes perfect sense.  Prior to getting pulled int he last game, Theodore was 17-0-2 in his previous 19 games.  Yikes, what a terrible record.
ImWithCoco says:
03/30/10 01:44AM

Neither Theodore or Varlamov have ever lost a first round series.

CAPS!!!!!!

We aren't scared of anyone, whoever is in our path will get trampled...

don't think I have to tell you the one team me and every other Caps fan DOES want to face in the Eastern Conference Finals... (hint: their captain looks like this )

matty_t says:
03/26/10 02:43PM

well my "fav" (used loosly, i cant bail on my team no matter how much they suck) in the east is the leafs... enough said, so sick of the  playoff runs at the end of the season

but in my opinion in the east... wash just arent there yet (there leaders slacks under press sure... playoffs, olympics, etc) pit is a strong contender, nj.. although i love brodeur, i think his time is coming to an end.. phi and ott will be pushed out (if ott cant pull something together) and i would LOVE to see the canes squeek in...

in the west, my fav since about a quarter into the season has been phx... i wouldnt like to see them face detroit, but i think that det wont make it through, to old, they'll be the ones feeling it in there bones come confrence finals... i would love to see phx face nsh they play pretty good hockey (unfortunately nsh usually wins)... i think detroit will make a push for 6h spot to face van, which will be a great match, but if van can keep from choking, then i say bye bye detroit

phx vs LA would be golden too, and i say the struggling flames, dont get in

and just for miller time it doesnt matter who you play or how good miller is, unless youluck out with phi... you boys are gone first round (miller is only that good when he has a team picked from an entire country infront of him.... not when its the sabres.....)

matty_t says:
03/27/10 01:27AM

id love to see carolina sneak in there
