"I would like to know what your position is about this law
that was enacted as part of the SAFE Port Act 2006. This anti-free trade
protectionist measure drew legal condemnation by the WTO and represented a
broad strike against internet freedom in the United States. The US Government
then proceeded to arrest and prosecute numerous CEOs and board members of
legitimate publicly traded companies in a disgraceful and cowardly act
characteristic of a fascist government. The law has backfired, running
legitimate businesses out of the United States market and widening the breeding
ground for less reputable organizations – the exact opposite of the purported
intention (aside from appeasing Vegas donors).
The existing legislation is an inappropriate interference on
the personal freedom of Americans and this interference should be undone.
Furthermore, this legislation has been determined to be in violation of the
World Trade Organization treaty obligation by not granting full market access
to online gambling companies.
Please inform me whether you would support repealing
this law as I will be considering supporting candidates that respect the rights
of law abiding adults and seek to draft and support legislation towards the
regulation and taxation of online gambling.
