is this the beginning of the end of the lakers?

Kobe is older and slower.  They diss their second and third best players by trying to trade them (Gasol and Odom).  They give Odom away.  The little rookie point guard seems okay-- sorta like Smush Parker.  Remember him?  Metta World Artest is long in the tooth (and I loved him back in the day).  New coach with little experience in handling huge superstars-- aka doing little with Labron.  Zero second unit.   Steve Blake needs to eat a loaf of bread.  Derrick Fisher should retire and run for office.  Matt Barnes isn't Shannon Brown.  That is my question.  Is this the beginning of the end?

Kobe will be as good as he was last season , the same player who blew past then dunked on Derrick Rose in the All Star game- just with some games (like a third in a row with this new schedule) he might need to play less minutes and let Jason Kapono and Luke Walton pick up some slack. They are very bad at the Point Guard positon and they knew it- that's why they tried to land the best in the game, Chris Paul. That backfired, they lose Odom and have Steve Blake (who?!?) as the starting Small Forward all spells trouble for the Lakers.

The LA Lakers ARE the second best team in Los Angeles this season.

My predictions for NBA postseason;

-Clippers beat Oklahoma City in the Western Finals (6 games)

-Heat beat the Knicks in the Eastern Finals (5 games)

-Heat beat the Clippers in the NBA Finals (6 games)

The beginning of the end started last year for Lakers and this is the continuing of the end for lakers.Artest and Fisher are one year older but at least they aren't tired from being worndown in playoffs. The only thing making news for Lakers are Phil and Lamarr absence.

kobe's got a lot of miles on those tires. his hands are breaking down, literally! will say, however, that bynum and gosol looked great in that second game versus the clippers. there will be no bynum the first five games.

blake looks much improved. artest could be a difference maker. bynum comes back and stays healthy. maybe there's hope. on the other hand, and realistically, this season is going to be brutal on kobe.

update as of January 13. If Kobe, Pau, and Bynum stay healthy, this is Kobe's statement year. His no Phil, no Shaq year. This is his Kobe year. Woman problems seems to fuel his desire to succeed. He's shown that he's better than Labron and anyone else. His will to win and achieve in the basketball arena is unparalleled; save Michael Jordan (that's in my lifetime). Sorry Bill Russell with eight teams in the league. Blake is better this year. But the Lakers essentially have no bench. Mike Brown has shocked me. He really is a great defensive coach.

Without Steve Blake the Lakers have seriously diminished point guard play. Father time is catching up with D-Fish no matter how many loose balls he dives for and the game winner against dallas. someone besides kobe's gotta get bynum and pau the ball!

I look for the lakers to acquire rodney stucky from the pistons some time this yr.

Lakers may have found something in Andrew Goudelach (sp?). He might be the guard off the bench they need till blake gets back.

i think the toronto game says it all. couldn't handle lowly toronto without kobe heroics. last time that happened bosh and bargarni played.
