Packers futures odds hold great value

I have seen a good amount of people on this site who like to take a shot on future wagers. I am no exception to this. I like to follow the teams out of season moves and make a small "friendly" wager on who will win the superbowl. I understand its a rather poor bet because so much can happen in the season...however, this is a wager where I like to take a shot. There is one team that I really like especially with the price they are getting. I like the Green Bay Packers at 20:1 (sportsbook.com). Here is why I like this team at this price:

Offense: On this side of the ball the Packers have the ability to explode in each game. Rodgers has a yr. of experience and actually had a very good yr. that was tarnished by the Defense. The passing game IMO has the ability to be top 5 in the league this yr. Greg Jennings is one of the most explosive receivers in the league. IMO he is in the top 10 receivers in the league and possibly as high as top 5. Donald Driver (although aging) would be a solid number 1 choice for many teams, and is the second option here. Ryan Grant, should be around 100 yds every game, and has the ability to go for 150+ in any given game. The question mark is the O-line. They showed signs of improvement towards the end of the season. I believe a younger line gained useful experience that will seal the deal and make this a top 5-7 ranked offense in the league.

Defense: For those people who paid attention to the packers last yr. it was the defense that kept the packers out of the playoffs. Several times the defense gave up late game scores to result in loses. In the off season the Packers obviously got healthy (with several months off) and added two "potential studs" to the defensive side of the ball Raji and Matthews. BJ Raji (assuming he lives up to half of the hype) will be a big addition to the run stopping ability in the middle. With Kampman being moved to an outside linebacker in the new 3-4 system, look for the pack to blitz often, creating more pressure, resulting in even more T.O.'s than last season (which was the only bright spot). With Harrison and Woodson playing the bump and run man coverage it will allow the safeties to ball hawk and help over the top.  The packers linebacking crew is deep and solid. The positions are still being battled for right now and could be shifted around..however it appears to be Hawk and Barnet in the middle with Kampman and possibly Matthews on the outside. Speed, is something the packers have at LB and that will be huge for creating pressure on the QB, as well as collapsing on the run.

I understand that there are wholes and question marks with the Packers. However, when you look at the upside that I have provided, I see very solid value with this play at 20:1. This team is far from a poor team and have the ability to win 4 games in the post season. BOL to all on a successful football season.

I think that the GB "D" will struggle. Converting to a 3-4 takes time. Not to mention that they really dont have that OLB that can do everything. Kap is taking that spot but im not sold on him outside a 4-3 yet. With that being said 20-1 might just be the right odds not good value. IMO.

JLT..first off...what do you mean when you say..hey you never suave4life21 this is the NFL? ....anyways back to the topic at hand...there defense did have a few right spots with the number of T.O's..and with the large number of injuries many players were playing out of position i.e. Hawk was moved when Barnet got hurt(althouh not drastically out of position), charles woodson moved to safety, by the end of the year they were to a 4th or 5th string safety, harrison, etc...I agree that the transition to a 3-4 may create a few bumps in the road...but I believe this defense has solid athletes..This D will be fast and quick..possibly the quickest in the league...the question is...can they utilize that.

Logans...I agree that every team in the division has gotten better, but I question how much better. Chicago added Jay Cutler, yes a solid NFL QB...but who is he throwing too? MInnesota obviously scares me...but with the addition of Brett Favre they may go away from what they are best at...running the football..and late in the season I look favre to collapse again...There D will be solid and they always have AP to fall back on...clearly the biggest threat in the Division...and although the the lions did improve...i just dont see them making that drastic of a turn around in one yr.

Fightin...I can see the argument and i cant fault a pause for concern with what you have been saying.

Thank you all for the input..this IMO is the way a covers thread should appear...none the stupid comments with no contributing...just the exchange of information..

Sounds like a fun bet, with a possible nice payout. If the Cards can make it I don't see why the Pack can't.
