Thursday: Clemson @ GT - Play of Year

Clemson @ GT -5 (5units)

Ten of the last 13 in this series have been decided by five points or less. Neither team played very well last year, and neither was overly impressive in week one (especially GT).

Last week, GT cruised to 37-17 win over Jacksonville State, racking up 497 yards of total offense, including 335 on the ground. The Yellow Jackets got their starters out early with no first teamer going over 40 plays with the short week upcoming.
 
With the short week, I think Georgia Tech has two big physical advantages because they don't have to travel and their game ended before Clemson's even started.

I see this one coming down to the fourth quarter again in higher than expected scoring game. On a final note to o/u cappers,,,L4 games or since 2005, both teams have scored less than 40pts total each season, but the way things been going this week,,OVER is the PLAY!!

G TECH/Clemson: There is No real dominant team in the ACC. Last time these two faced each other they got the win at Clemson 21-17. Clemson brings Freshman QB on the road at a hostile site, conference game CJ Spiller goes down (hammy). LY Clemson ran only for only 51 yards (with Spiller and James Davis against GT (BTW).  Clemson has a good offensive line this year, so they'll probably be better. Clemson has a good defense and yet GT still ran over 207 yards with Dwyer &Co, and they will control the ball with a year of experience with Paul Johnson's offense (the unusual scheme, will be more on the same page than LY. This team is a homerun waiting to happen (should be exciting offensively). A lot of players back for GTECH this year especially on offense. Taking GTECH -5 for 5 Units.

Clemson was leading MTSU 30 - 7 at half, and a lot of their starters got to sit out the 4th quarter as well.  GL, but on the other side.

I want to lean toward Clemson.  The margin between the last 13 games, the 12 out of the last 14 underdog winning trend between the two teams and Spiller playing makes Clemson a solid pick for me.  However, I do question the freshman quarterback and Clemson's ability to fully prepare for the option.  I havn't placed a bet, but Clemson looks good to me.

Clemson recruits the type of players that do not have the discpline to stop the option. I feel the talent on their defense is there but the self control to follow the game plan will be lacking. Best bet is the over and i wish i was able to find it at 42.5 because my site has it at 44.5.
