Can Dallas win twice in Miami?

With the 2-3-2 format, it's very difficult to win 3 straight home games.  If Dallas wins twice at home, they'll have to win twice in Miami.  Dallas is a very good road team, but don't forget how good of a home team Miami is.  Miami is 8-0 at home this postseason.  I think it'll be unfortunate for Dirk that Wade and company has stood is his way twice.

Series play:  Miami -180

Like Miami myself, i think the Big Three plus improving bench out of Miller and Haslem, Heat will be a bit too much to handle by Dirk and short handed Mavs. Good luck!

who will be effectively guarding, bosh, wade and james at same time and producing good scores for the Mavs?

lol, one dirk will outscore big three. dirk will get his due so will the big three. let's see if dirk can beat big three.

bosh- chandler/haywood/marion when james is rested or switched
wade- stevenson
james- marion

oh yah, the Mavs have that Dirk guy who can score

i agree Dirk can score and he has proved so, just not sure if marion, stevenson et el, could guard big three and make some serious baskets. Dirk could score 45 pts again but 45 along might not be enough for the game which i think big three could sum up ~70 to 80+ pts.

the Mavs only need to win in Miami once

I see miami winning the first two games and stealing one of those 3 road games and finish em off in 7.

My series bet is basically saying Dallas won't win all 3 at home.

Couldn't have said it better, both are great road teams and home teams. so you could easily see both teams defending home court AND wining on the road which makes the whole series that much more intriguing. If i didn't look at the odds I would be stumped at giving a verdict on who will win at this point in time. My lean was dallas until i saw there series odds at $2.75 which is crazy imo considering all the factors.

the way JT and Kidd played in the playoffs, i would say its a big 3 vs big 3

you forget that LAKERS got BLOWN OUT from MIAMI at LA early in the season where talks about miami in a chemistry slump...but they go on a 21 out of 22 game streak...and yes dallas as swept miami  in the season...but u forget that it was with curon butler and now miami has been playin better than ever with the help of miller, chalmers, udonis and bibby...so there's no way to really say that dirk is way better than 3...and u can't say miami as a team don't play defense...dont get me wrong dallas is a very good team...but dont you think lebron and wade with all the weight on their shoulders really let the mavericks end their finals just like that after the year long struggles and hatred they've been through...its just my opinion...i see lebron gettin his first ring and dallas packin bags and making big moves next year...but good luck to both teams...it should be good!!!! i just dont see dallas woopin miami like that especially with miami having the revenge factors from the season sweep and the drive for lebron and bosh's first rings. BOL!!

Because Miami protects home court better than the Lakers and OKC combined.  Lakers weren't going anywhere this playoffs and OKC well OKC had a Westbrook infection that appeared to have personal goals set above the team.

thatsagoodone says:

Any you really think Lakers and OKC are on the same level last Miami?  Look at the committment to defense and the desire to win.

Dirk will go all-in, so will James and Bosh in this series. i just think, Heat have more weapons, play better defense and own the home court advantage in this series.

Home court is not as important in the playoffs as it is in the regular season..... alot of home teams are benficiaries of catching teams on back to backs and/or playing 4 games in 5 nights (eg a fatigue and game planning/preparation disparity), and the significance of home court is inflated (Nuggets are seemingly the biggest beneficiary of this).... Also, alot of the those home wins are against scrub n-playoff teams and you can throw them out when trying to assess home court advantage against a top playoff team.....

..... In the playoffs, the fatigue/game planning disparity is taken out of the equation.  I am curious if anyone has good data on home winning percentages in the playoffs and regular season.

..... but that being said, home court does seem to be very important for Game 7's.

NBA teams with HCA in playoffs,

From year 1999 to 2008:

All rounds, Win 115, Loss 35

Finals, Win 8, Loss 2.--NBA.com.

And home teams are 26-10 in Game 7's in 1998-2008. The stat is also from NBA.com.

wait a minute here!....dallas has the best playoff record  of all thes teams that made it!....they are 12-3 straight up so far....having coverd an unbelievable 13 of those 15 games!!!....they have taken down portland in six games ...the great lakers in four games and now just completed the okie take down in five games...and all of a sudden they have become the "short handed mav's"...what in the world do you mean by this...i think their bench has peformed superbly to creat those kind of stats...have you watched any of the games???...how in the hell are they "short handed"...nothing was brought up about being shorthanded so far in the playoffs!...and they havent lost anybody in the last week ...what in the world are you talking about, short handed???

Europa says:

All i meant was, Dirk vs big three in this series. Sure, you can count in Marion, Kid or Chandler for the Mavs. But that was what i'm seeing Mavs will get their hands full dealing with this "three head moster". Good luck to whateve you play.

gd2436 says:
05/29/11 02:14PM

even if they dont win all three home games , dallas is just as good on the road!....do you realize dallas is 31-16 ats on the road this season...and i believe they covered all seven of their road playoff games...this is phenomonal!!!...home court advantage means absolutely NOTHING witht this dallas mavs team...NOTHING........they have covered every away playoff game so far..so who cares where the game is played ...i know miami is undefeated in the playoffs at home so something will have to give!...these should be great games ...but i put little to  no importance on where the game is played in this series!

gd2436 says:
05/29/11 02:20PM

dont forget about jason terry...he can just about carry a team and bring em back quick if he is hot , he drills em like nobody when he is on!.................gl with whoever you play in this series....like i said it should be a great series, with the two best teams in the nba involved...they have both hit their stride and this series should be a great one!...the pretenders have all fallen by the wayside...the contenders remain....bring on the finals...cant wait!

That's a fantastic line!  Unfortunately for me I play with a local so I'm limited on shopping.  It like being at a casino and needing to use the atm machine.

First of ALL   shop around for the price of -165   I got ,dont play -180 when theres many good numbers out there. I bet 8400.00 on series with bulls and pushed money on heat at -165......... heat wins in 6 !

Cannot bring myself to bet the Heat but, it is probably the right side. If Dallas takes this to a 7th game then I think they have a chance to win the series. I put a small bet in for Dallas to win in seven.

Good luck thatsagoodone

Don't get me wrong, i do think the heat is a gd team but far from great. Winning 2 gms in miami is not mission impossible. Dallas have an awesome road record both regular season & the playoff.

The other way round, the heat is not that great when they re away. So, if the first 2 gm split, then all the pressure will on the heat ( big 3 )

BOL on yr bet but my money will on the Mavs instead.

There is no one that makes Chris Bosh look more like the fake "Gangsta" tough guy he thinks he is than a bigger, taller, more athletic person guarding him. He starts missing shots, gets angry, yells at the refs, spit and his mouthguard flying, and his inner pterodactyl starts to show signs of life. Its embarrassing. He is the most mentally prone on the heat to play chicken and hatch eggs, and I guarantee 2 <15 performances EASY in this matchup.  Chandler and Haywood will enjoy playing him.

Dallas is the bigger team, meaning no double teams. Meaning no one not named LBJ, Wade, or Bosh will be getting the ball. Miami = 2nd lowest assist. 80 from the big 3 might not be enough. If the big 3 don't all perform, Dallas will have a field day/series.

those guys that you mentioned are not producing enough to get over the hump..........check the games closely and miamis bench is playing good defense against their bench

It is a togh choice game 4. However, Game 5 is going to be easy to pick....
