I've been waiting all week to start disecting props and find a few winners. Went 5-1 during the Vikes/Saints and Colts/Jets games, should be able to profit given the amount of time we get before the big game. I'm throwing out my top 10 in no particular order and will narrow it down as the week goes on.

1. Will the game ever be tied after 0-0? Yes +110

2. Saints total 3rd down Conversions: Over 5.5 -125

3. Saints total rushing yards: Over 100.5 -115 (they will try to control the clock by rushing a lot).

4. Colts total rushing yards: Under 99.5 -115 (they only average 80 rushing ypg this season).

5. Will there be a score in the first 5 1/2 minutes? Yes +105

6. Reggie Bush rushing attempts: Over 4.5 -115 (He had attempts of 5 and 7 in the two playoff games).

7. Pierre Thomas rushing attempts: Over 11.5 -115 (13 and 14 previous two).

8. Joseph Addai longest rush: Over 12.5 yards -115 (Just look at the stats on this one).

9. Reggie Wayne total receiving yards: Over 74.5 -115 (He's due for a big game).

10. Pierre Garcon total receptions: Over 4.5 -115 (Hit this the last two games at 3.5, gotta ride it one more time).

Ice, Gold Rush

Thanks for the input fellas, I'm confident we'll find the best plays out there.

Ice4Blood says:
01/28/10 06:39PM

i'm sure i didn't put nearly as much thought into it as you did...

however, i will say i think a couple of those are gimmes... particularly #9 and #10...

paris says:
01/28/10 08:18PM

10 is a sucker bet if I have ever seen one.  I will be on the under in that one.

Garcon under 4.5 for 2 units here.  Hopefully you donks bet the hell out of it and I can better value.

I'm 5-1 on playoff props and will DEFINITELY be on the under here

Ice4Blood says:
01/28/10 09:52PM

Insight... Garcon is one of the best bets to be the MVP in this game... Saints secondary will have no choice but to double Reggie Wayne all day long... if they do not Wayne will have close to 200 yards receiving...

they will opt to let other WRs beat them... and when they do, they will unleash Garcon... who, even the best CB on the Saints, does not have a shot in hell of being able to cover...

over 4.5 is a gimme... he'll have at least 4 by halftime... AND, more importantly... there is no way you can lost both #9 and #10, unless both of them get injured...

taking the under on #9 is a very unwise betting decision... very unwise!

tooez says:
01/28/10 10:48PM
Thanks for your "Insight Mr." Like I said I hit Garcon over 3.5 receptions in both colts playoff games so I will be playing it again during the super bowl. With all the attention on Wayne and Clark, Garcon and Collie get a lot of passes their way. Hopefully your not doing this just because Garcon had a big game and now Saints are all of a sudden going to focus on stopping him.
Crashdavis565 says:
01/28/10 10:56PM

I do not think they double Reggie. The status quo in the NFL is to watch the tape and then go against it. If they watch the playoff tape, they do not double Reggie.  They go single because they forget Reggie is one bad ass mf.

He blows em up and cashes the prop.  My two cents. I would bet one of these or the other, I do not like em both. It is either Garcon or Wayne, maybe not both.

Michfan15 says:

1. Will the game ever be tied after 0-0? Yes +110

like this

2. Saints total 3rd down Conversions: Over 5.5 -125

sounds good

3. Saints total rushing yards: Over 100.5 -115 (they will try to control the clock by rushing a lot).

like where your heads at

4. Colts total rushing yards: Under 99.5 -115 (they only average 80 rushing ypg this season).

dunno about this one- if they take the lead and run the clock your done...

5. Will there be a score in the first 5 1/2 minutes? Yes +105

iffy- but looks good- five and half minutes isn't a long time.

6. Reggie Bush rushing attempts: Over 4.5 -115 (He had attempts of 5 and 7 in the two playoff games).

tough to tell, he doesn't run the ball a lot

7. Pierre Thomas rushing attempts: Over 11.5 -115 (13 and 14 previous two).

better bet than bush

8. Joseph Addai longest rush: Over 12.5 yards -115 (Just look at the stats on this one).

like this one alot.  13  yard run is not hard to get in this game with the defenses so worried about the pass.

9. Reggie Wayne total receiving yards: Over 74.5 -115 (He's due for a big game).

agree

10. Pierre Garcon total receptions: Over 4.5 -115 (Hit this the last two games at 3.5, gotta ride it one more time).

definitley, his numbers were skewed last game and he will not have close to 11, but the colts throw the ball a ton- wayne isn't going to catch everything.  garcon should grab at least 5 or 6 receptions at a minimum

Crashdavis-  I want to narrow this list down so I just might take one of those away.

Bustin Piles- I like that you agree with most even though I don't know who Greer is?

Scooter-  I think both Thomas and Bush over rushing attempts look solid.

Michfan-  I guarantee I'm taking #4 off the list. However, I hate that everything else I got is Over's!

Sorry just getting back to reading this thread

Jabari Greer very underrated CB and great free agent acquistion doesn't get the pub of other cornerbacks in the league. Played very well against some elite WR's this season including Fitzgerald, TO, and Calvin Johnson.

BP... i agree that Greer is underrated... but i don't think i agree that this is a game where he will really be able to showcase himself... Reggie Wayne is a bad matchup for any and every CB in the NFL...

if Greer doesn't get some help over the top, he will get burned on a long one...

Simon- I know trust me these bets are more for shits and giggles. It's the only time of year I play them. The real  will be on the Colts with ya!!

Hey Ice - I just finished watching the NFC Championship again and did a little scouting for propositions. I don't think Greer will be getting much help. Clearly the Vikings intended to attack Porter the most and Gay when they were in a Nickel or Dime package. The big plays and gains in the Vikings passing came against these guys.

Greer in Man to Man saw 9 balls thrown his way.

1) Incomplete pass intended for Rice

2) 1 yard gain Harvin

3) 5 yard gain Rice

4) Incomplete pass Rice

5) 15 yard gain Berrian

6) Incomplete pass Harvin

7) -2 yard gain Berrian

8) Dropped pick undercutting Rice..incomplete

9) Incomplete pass Rice

So really the question is as the starting LCB how many times will he be matched up on Wayne. I know they will move him around, so rethinking how many opportunities he will be matched against Greer. All in all this not a prop I am interested in being involved with.

Im not convinced Greer and the Saints secondary will stop Wayne, in games he played in the opposing No.1 WRs got:

Calvin Johnson - 90 yards
Desean Jackson - 101 yards
Roddy White - 108 yards
Steve Smith - 64 yards
Larry Fitz - 77 yards

o/u 74.5 yrds receiving for the New Orleans born Reggie seems reasonable...

BustinPiles says:
01/30/10 12:34AM

Ice- I have a future on New Orleans at 15-1 that i have not hedged at any point this postseason. I want to see a weather forecast midweek as I may decide to protect my investment and assure some + gain with a Colts pick and Over. People say Manning is going to carve up this defense.. and in the times the Colts have played the Saints he has had his way(big time) but on the other side of the coin there is not that much I think that is intimidating about this Colts defense aside form Freeney and Mathis either.... for crying out loud they brought in Jason David

and McKenzie for a look see at Cb's this week.

Unsure if I pull the trigger on the hedge at this point. But will be looking to narrow down some prop plays

BustinPiles says:
02/09/10 01:15PM

Well Wayne did stay under but it wasn't because Greer was matched up on him exclusively (Porter )

I think his knee was bigger issue than was being reported, he did not even attempt to try and catch up to Porter. BTW am I the only one who thought Manning was clearly blocked in the back during the return . Glad it wasn't called but still.

love the over on wayne receiving yds.  FGs are going to be a big part of this game with a lot of movement between 20's and stalling in red zone w/ very little punting hence over the 3 fgs easily.

2 others i love

over 10.5 1st qtr

longest fg over 42.5 yds

Crashdavis565 says:
02/02/10 07:40AM

Hey guys pretty nice thread here. I still believe that Wayne has a big day, but am not  100% convinced. Just went through all the Colt playoff games over the last couple of years and save one or two, he has not hit any home runs. The Colts save the superbowl year, have also not been a great playoff team.  I think the Aints do look to stop Wayne and make the Colts spread it around. This prop is very very tough because MANNING WILL TAKE WHAT IS THERE!

Boy (manning)  will not force anything and who knows what will be there.  Have to admit if they go Greer and do not move him with Wayne then those opposing number one stats stated above look pretty dead on. Wayne should beat  the 2 and 3 corners easy.  This one looks tough though and I like others much more after reconsidering.

Overall, I am going to make a little wager on Reggie.   I will make a large prop wager on Brees over 279.5, this has much more appeal to me. Manning is at 300 and Brees who  leads him most years in yards thrown but does not get the name is 20 yards less. The Colts have faced four top caliber qbs this year....Schaub twice, Brady and Warner all have gone over this number. In a game with the over at 57 (!) and  to me no Dwight Freeney, this is the prop of the game to me.  If the Colts get the lead (as everyone thinks) Brees may get 45 attempts and should go well over this number.

IMHO

Crash

Crashdavis565 says:

probably right before half. It seems to me that there have been a lot of huge scoring second quarters in the bowl OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD. I think that Redskin barrage came in the second quarter some 20 years ago?

Either way, like the bet.

Crashdavis565 says:
02/03/10 06:54PM

I looked back at the Wayne prop from a lot of angles to hammer it. I really liked it before I looked at the Colts and Wayne in BIG GAMES (playoff or big season games i.e. patriots). I came away thinking that Manning goes much more to Clark in this game. I at first thought they would leave Wayne in single coverage but I think he gets his normal double and the "other guys " must beat us is the idea.

I was going to hammer that one and now am going to pass, just fyi, for what it is worth.

smokin376 says:
02/03/10 09:04AM

I am actually very confident on about 90% of them. Especially the Garcon and Collie props. I also think the QB's in this matchup will be tossing quite regularly. I would not be taking any props having to do with running in this game. These teams know that through the air is there bread and butter and it has been this way the whole season thus far. Why would you change your style when both teams have been very successful through the air? Think about that!

smokin376 says:
02/09/10 10:16AM

Check that out!..WOW! I have never hit so many plays at one time or during such a big game. The game played out exactly as I stated. The ball will get thrown around at a high completeion % but it would be played in between the 20's and it would not make an over. What a day!

smokin376 says:
02/09/10 10:17AM

Hit every 1 except 1 of them!

smokin376 says:
02/02/10 09:34AM
I have already locked in these Props as I feel the ball will be tossed around quite frequently in this game and at a high completion percentage:

1. Austin Collie Receptions Over 4 -125

2. Austin Collie Over 50.5 Yards -115

3. Drew Brees Completions Over 24.5 -135

4. Peyton Manning Completions Over 25 -130

5. Pierre Garcon Receptions Over 4.5 -140

6. Pierre Garcon Over 60.5 Yards -120

7. Reggie Bush Rushing + Receiving Yards Over 53.5 -135

8. First Score Of The Game Will Be FG or Safety +190

9. Will Either Team Score 3 Unanswered Times - NO +145

10. Largest Lead At Any Time Under 16.5 Pts. +100

11. Marquis Colston Completions Over 4.5 -145

Good luck with everyones picks and GO SAINTS!

Tooez- here you go...

What Commercial will be highest rated according to USA Today’s annual Ad meter?

Budweiser…5/8

Go. Daddy….8/1

Career Building…8/1

Coca-Cola….7/1

Family First….12/1

Doritos…..2/1

Other…..13/5

Last year Doritos won as a 7/1 dog or something.  Go. Daddy could do something crazy and isn’t bad at 8/1.  Coca-cola ads never really impress anyone I feel like, just usually some thing with the polar bear or something.  Doritos odds aren’t good enough, plus I don’t think they’ll repeat.  Budweiser could pull something hilarious, the too light, too heavy campaign was pretty good, but bad odds.  Other at almost 3/1 seems like the best choice here.  I’ve done some research, the following companies have ads in the superbowl (i.e. who you get by betting Other):  Audi, boost mobile, bridgestone, cars.com, Denny’s, Emerald Nuts, Dockers, Dr. Pepper/Snapple, E-Trade, EA, Honda, Hyundai, Intel, Kia, KGB, Snickers, Monster, Motorola, Motorola, Monster, Qualcomm, Telefora, TruTV, Unilever, universal pictures, Viacom- paramount pictures, vizio, Volkswagon,Yum-Taco Bell.

That’s a shitload of solid companies and a bunch of them have a solid chance to win. Snickers, Taco-bell, E-trade, all capable of pulling quality commercials.  All you have to worry about is Budweiser and Doritos.  If they pull some extremely funny shit it might be hard to beat, but thers also the chance Bud or Doritos could flop which should lead to an easy win.  Play the numbers, bet Other and take the +260.

Like the thread.  Everyone keep this in mind for the tv shots of Archie.  These are LIVE shots only.  If the colts score a TD and they tape a shot of Archie celebrating, then show the clip 5 seconds later, that does not qualify.  Typically the only live shots come between snaps when there is not much action going on.  BTW, I have seen this prop climb to 4 recently, 2.5 seemed like good value and now I am not so sure.

However, there is good news.  The best prop IMO is mentioning the phrase "Hurricane Katrina" at 2.

tooez says:
01/31/10 03:58PM

I said I would be narrowing this list down. Here's what I'm thinking after all of your help.

1. Will the game ever be tied after 0-0? Yes +110 (still like it and keeping it.)

2. Saints total 3rd down Conversions: Over 5.5 -125 (Laying off this one. I'll be so drunk by 2nd half I don't want to count.)

3. Saints total rushing yards: Over 100.5 -115 (Still on the fence. Leaning to a play but will make a final decision later this week.)

4. Colts total rushing yards: Under 99.5 -115 (No play)

5. Will there be a score in the first 5 1/2 minutes? Yes +105 (on the fence too. Colts can take a lot of time on opening drives.)

6. Reggie Bush rushing attempts: Over 4.5 -115 (laying off, sorry JackedUp but I like Thomas better.)

7. Pierre Thomas rushing attempts: Over 11.5 -115 (playing for sure.)

8. Joseph Addai longest rush: Over 12.5 yards -115 (playing for sure. Just look at each game, 12 overs 6 unders. The unders were against Bal, Den, Tenn twice, Sea, Stl.)

9. Reggie Wayne total receiving yards: Over 74.5 -115 (no play, I'm seeing better value in others.)

10. Pierre Garcon total receptions: Over 4.5 -115 (Not a recommended play but I've hit it both times this post season so I'll bite.)

So far I'm on #1, #7, #8, and #10 for sure. Might play #3 and/or #5, still looking into them. Thanks again for your help everyone, one more week til Gametime!!!!!

tooez says:
02/02/10 06:43PM

Scooter:  GL with that Addai over, sucks your juice is so high but I still like it.

Crash: I like that Brees over prop, that's the only way to go if your playing the QB yards. Only reason I'm not is because I think the only way Saints win is to slow the game down and keep Colts offense off the field. And the only way to do that is with long drives, which is why I've liked both Thomas and Bush rushing attempts over from the start.

tooez says:
02/02/10 06:46PM
Smokin: Wow that's a lot of props! The only one I'm on in that bunch is #5.  GL on the rest man.
tooez says:
01/30/10 12:26AM

JackedUp: I'm not surprised by that, 8.5 is a lot of attempts for Bush. I also wouldn't play Pierre Thomas at 14.5 as that seems spot on. That's why I like my line

BustinPiles:  thanks for the info. I will most likely lay off the Wayne receiving yards prop.

tooez says:
01/30/10 12:28AM

tooez says:

Just fyi I know it's not much different but sportsbooks moved the number to 77.5. Seems like a lot of people think this is an easy one.
tooez says:
02/03/10 04:49PM

Flashman:  thanks for clearing that up. Archie has to be shown in a "live" shot. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the broadcast booth at some point during the game.  That would sail the number over!

THD: They predicted on NFL Live yesterday that Saints would get 0 sacks and Colts would get 2. Even if Saints get 1 that still wins. Withouth Freeny too that's a solid bet.

tooez says:
02/04/10 05:42PM

Crash: As stated I too originally loved the Wayne yards then decided not to play it. Think I found better ones to play.

5time: I played that Overtime prop in the Vikes/Saints game at +1200   However, there's no way I would do that in this game.  GL to you as well, let us know if you find any others you like.

Michfan:  GL with that prop, looks like some others agree with you in your thread.

What's up guys, leaving for Vegas tonight so I'm posting all my plays right now. Only one more day until the Big Dance!!!

As stated on page 2, I'm already on:

1. Will there ever be a tie after 0-0? Yes -115

2. Pierre Thomas total rushing attempts: Over 11.5 -115 (I'd still play it at 12.5)

3. Joseph Addai longest rush from scrimmage: Over 12.5 yards -115

4. Pierre Garcon total receptions: Over 4.5 -115.

Iron, sportsbooks.com. Some of the juice has changed now but I created this thread like 2 hours after the props opened up and that's what they were.

smokin: Appreciate your insight on why you like your props. As I have stated, I think the only way Saints win is to keep Manning and co. off the field. Their not going to do that by passing all the time. Also, colts know their against the #1 offense in the league, so they will want long drives as well by running the ball.

Splooge: At first I really liked Wayne over receiving yards too but I feel I've found more value in others. I do however really like that over 10.5 in the 1st quarter. That's a lot better then my initial lean of "will there be a score in the first 5 minutes?" Thanks

Hey guys just got back from Vegas. Pretty rough Sunday but not as bad as A TON of other people out there. Played the under for 5 units when I found 57.5 at the Orleans which saved me some on the Colts ML play.

smokin376:  Very, very nice job on your props and I have to thank you sir. I found the first score of the game prop (#8) at the Orleans at +200 and played it with you. That payed for 2 of the 3 losers I had.

Officially my posted props went 2-3. There were so many chances for the game to be tied again but it never happened. Sorry to any that tailed me.
