A few rules to live by for all cappers (and wanna be's)

I posted this in yest and todays thread but wanted to put it under a seperate cover

1. If you use the term "get this paper" or any derivative therof, u can't be old enough or smart enough to be a good capper....I suggest you ignore all posters that use silly infantile slang...

2. you have to have gone broke at least once to be a good capper...and that still guatantees nada....sounds silly..im sure it does...has nothing to do with money management.....reason is if u dont spend 20-30 hours at this weekly, u wont be good and most can't do that and pay the rent...having a "feel" is great...but is only a small part of this business...

3. you have to bet more than 1k per game....bare minimum....i know it seems silly, but if u dont bet enough to pay the rent its just a hobby, so dont call your self a handicapper

4.you have to make ur own line...if u cant do that, then u arent handicapping ur guessing

5. reverses are for suckers

6. the superbowl is just another game

7. never chase money...if ur down going into sunday, bet em like its just another day, and if u cant afford to, its monday thru saturday that u messed up....

8. who cares which way the line moves if you did your work, unless u know who moved it and why, it doesnt matter....

9. if u worry more about the weeks u get paid than the weeks you pay, ur a handicapper and running your business right...

10.your bookie isnt your friend and if you aren't shopping for good lines with multiple books you are giving away too much to be successful

11. sign on issues or not, matchbook is a must for baseball players if you dont have multiple books.  if you bet 1k a game and save 2 cents per play over 200 bets in a season u can lose 4k less....if you dont get that then u cant be a good handicapper..

12. you cant bet baseball with a 20 cent line(if u dont know what i mean, start collecting stamps, as this isnt for u) as any reduced juice is your friend

more to come...comments i could care less about...if your too stubborn, young or think u know everything, keep doing it however you do it...I could care less..

You Sir are a little full of yourself and a little fos as well, your idea that you "must" bet at least a dime per game is false, so with little to no respect, up yours. Your way of

doing things may work for you, but your way is not the only way.

The only reason I make a comment is because I do not want rookies to really think

you are the answer and bust out betting dimes, lol, I should stop here, getting really

pissed thinking about what you have written...

I agree with them all.

I like " the superbowl is just another game".

I've said that for many years and have played golf on superbowl sunday. Easy to get on.

There is one you left out and it's the #1 rule of sportsbetting.

#1 Rule "A losing bet = a bad bet."

That needs to be understood to be successful.

It's a simple concept that few can agree with.

Just another blow-hard. All I see here are a lot of comments that have been on other numerous articles over the years.

Per this criteria, I do this as a hobby. Excsue me, LOL!

Why must someone have gone broke at least once to be a good handicapper? If you've gone broke you either suck (and should get out of the game) or go to a Gambler's Anon meeting! And, in the same vein, its a hobby if I don't pay my rent with my profits? Dude....handicapping IS a hobby for 99.997261% of the population. If your a professional handicapper, why are you here? Most professionals keep their mouth shut and the their opinions to themselves. Actually, pros understand that gambling is just about being the odds for a thrill...money is just how you keep score.

The only thing relevent here are #5 and #6. Reverses ARE brutal plays; the Superbowl has always been just another game.

VINCENZO UNCOVERED AS A FRAUD

Well Vincenzo I guess you are just eating up all this attention. I hope responding to all these posts is not cutting into your 20 hours a week of capping you say is essential to be a handicapper.

Trust me Vincenzo you don't need to spend a grand a bet and 20 hours a week capping to be a handicapper or a good one for that matter. There are some guys who bet sparingly and don't spend a lot of time capping who consistently hit winning plays. You either have the skill and instinct to cap or you don't.

Good cappers interpret information into winning plays, if you are a poor capper you can study stats all day and you will not make the right plays over the long term.

Vincenzo since you have given the impression that you know what you are talking about I reviewed your last 20 posted plays on covers. Believe me I was not impressed. You had a mix of (basball, college football and the nfl) It did prove to me that you perform poorly at most sports. You had a winning percentage of around 50% with these plays. I would safely assume by glancing at all your plays that you don't go much higher than that at years end. So after paying the juice you are losing money every year. Well in your case the last 50 years. I can see why you don't play a dime each bet anymore, with that record who would.

Vincenzo your own rules have not worked for you or is it time to face the fact you are a poor handicapper. Don't feel bad less than 5% of handicappers make any money on a consistent basis.

Well old man it looks like the game has passed you by, you are just an old man Vinzenzo who has wasted his whole life capping and in the end does not have a cent to show for it. Who wishes he was big shot but is not.

But who must now come on covers with these great revelations about handicapping that any handicapper worth his 2 cents already knows. I know Vincenzo you need to do these things to boost your ego when betting has beaten you up all your life. Let this be a lesson for the young cappers out there. Make some money have fun but don't let the game take your life or you will end up like Vincenzo a 50% capper writing posts at 60 years old to build up his bruised ego.

Vincenzo it is time to move on, spend time with the grandchildren, travel if you have any money left. Let this new breed go after the paper.

are u trying to explain to me that u are rating my career on what i posted here in 20 posts????  what was that a one month sample?

great job scooby doo.....ur quite the detective

it truly takes a jealous person to take the time to do what u did....i am honored....lets get something straight

son..i have had losing days, weeks, months, seasons and even years... in the last 15+ years I have lost money in 5 of them and none of those losing years were in the last 5..my biggest losing year is nowhere close to my top 5 winners..as well none of those losing years changed my lifestyle and its business as usual....did u think that the 60% win rate didnt also translate to losing years when u do this for a long time????  again great job....

if u know a handicapper who doesnt lose let me know ...id love to buy him dinner...but the best handicappers in the world have similar statistics...they all lose...but over time they willl win a lot more than they lose....

i post here when i can depending on time and its what i have to offer....but i doubt ur sample was even a full season ...do u think in hitting 60% i hit 60 EVERK WEEK....u really are silly..ive had 90% weeks and 30 percent weeks(hate those)....but ur just an idiot....before u decide to criticize someone make sure u know how to interpret the data u are using....it also translates well to handicapping....

Oh Vince it is not jealosy, sometimes you have to handicapp the capper you know what I mean. That is why I checked some of your plays and posts. I don't follow advice or tips blindly I like to know if that person has a clue what they are talking about. Believe me it wasn't for admiration. Vince if I was going to be jealous about someone it would not be for you a 50% winning percentage capper who is over the hill.

Well Vincenzo the top professional cappers who do this for a living and document there plays on betting sites rarely have a winning percentage at years end in any sport over 63%. I have seen the numbers. There is the occasional capper who does better but that is generally not the rule.

Now Vincenzo are you telling me that you have done as well or better than that. Vince you are not a pro and never have been. You are a 50% winning percentage capper, who has his good and bad days and weeks just like the rest of us. But at the end of the year you are average. Yes I checked further into your plays some story, good day, bad day, all in all 50% winning percentage.

Now Vince if you going to write bold statements were gonna call you on it. You are nothing special my friend just an average capper on here who is drawing attention to himself for some reason

I have a question about rule # 5. What are reverses ?
mooonie1 says:
10/10/09 02:00AM
i like reverses, 2 teams 4x the bet (if won) ie....200 on idaho and auburn - 800! that was nice, but like tonight, i had nevad and over for 50 R, lost 1 side only cost me 60! still up what 740! staight up parlays reverses, whats the difference, aint no one getting rich from this, except the cappers who charge and tell one side of their callers to go one way and the other callers to go the other way. so vincenzo, just tell wus who u like and y and not lecture us

Vin, I agree with all your rules except for one I'll get to later. I am 64 years old and have been around the sports gambling business for almost 40 years. I have bet, booked, middled, scalped baseball before beepers, cellphones, computers, off shore stores, when there were a lot of square books around, owned part of a line service in the 80's in Vegas (Odds' R). I had spotters at Gene Maday's, Little Cesar's and the Stardust when they had the best numbers around. I was also privvy to the computer kids, group, gang or whatever you want to call them, information. They were the best at college football and basketball that I've ever seen and still are.

I am a handicapper on many well-known multicapper sites and have my own site. If I could be 60% all year round in every sport... I wouldn't be where I am at... I would be at the beach on the French Riveria.

Here are some of my observations over the years:

You must understand the fundamental principle of odds and probabilities that are needed to wager on team sports. The key to handicapping is summarized in one word PERSPECTIVE and involves two conditions... understanding a teams assets and liabilities.

Winning is directly related to your knowledge of the opposition. About 60%, of all games are determined by luck (although you create your own luck) or happenstance. It’s the other 40% or so that separates the men from the boys.

My analogy of handicapping is that of a carpenter going to work without a hammer. A handicapper must have a bankroll.

There are good handicappers around, young and old and the computer has cut my worktime in half. Betting a dime a game should depend on your bankroll. Example: If your bankroll is 10 large, never play a dime a game... I would say $400 at the most. If you want to bet a dime a game, make sure your bankroll is at least 25K. THE BASICS WILL ALWAYS STAY THE SAME.

I had a cold call from a so-called capper the other day. I explained to him I was a capper on many multicapper sites and had my own site. I've had many calls like this before and usually have a nice conversation... but this guy persisted. I told him I was 64, my background and wouldn't be interested. He told me I was old and naive and that he was 35 and knew where it was at. He told me he would make me a lot of money if I followed his system which was fading a couple of well-known cappers on the internet. He said they're NFL football best bets were 4-18 so far this year and his system was playing against them. I said they could go 18-4 in the next few weeks. I am on many sites with these same cappers he's fading and everyone gets hot and cold. He persisted and called me old and naive again.

I finally lost it and told him he was an empty chair and there was 20 guys standing on the corner who knew more than he did. He said I didn't know what the f--k I was talking about. Well... I lowered myself to my old Chicago street days. I told him he was a mope, puke-vomit mother f--ker. I'm waiting for a call back.
