Matt Palmer vs. the defending National League Cy Young winner. Is it a good idea too fade Tim Lincecum today?
Sportnetwork write-up below hit it on the nose.
#1. Palmer w ERA over 8.5 against San Fran just last year
#2 Lincecum undefeated last 10 starts and has been incredible at home. See numbers below, they are for real.
#3. Angels have never swept Giants. Never.
For me, it's Lincecum all the way Jose. -175, done. F Chalk. It doesn't scare me from games where Vegas knows more than most bettors when they set this line so high. Angels have hisorically always been a public favorite team as well which adds even more reason to back the Giants today. Vegaas wants Angels action and they are getting plenty of it.
The right-handed Palmer is familiar with the Giants and Lincecum. The two were brief teammates in San Francisco's farm system and Palmer went 0-2 with an 8.53 ERA in three starts with the Giants last year, the first three outings of his career. Today marks his first-ever start against his former club after signing with the Angels this offseason.
Lincecum, who hasn't lost since April 12, also aims to win his seventh decision in a row for the Giants. Lincecum is undefeated over a span of 10 starts in which he has allowed more than three earned runs just once. The reigning NL Cy Young Award winner won his second start in a row on Friday, throwing his second career shutout, a seven-hitter versus Oakland.
The righty, who turned 25 on Monday, fanned eight in that win and improved to 6-1 with a 2.66 ERA. He has been slightly better at home, going 3-0 with a 2.41 ERA in six starts at AT&T Park.
Lincecum has never faced the Angels, who can complete a sweep of the Giants for the first time in club history today.
GL to ya.
