Fly into Vegas on Saturday the 13th around 11:30pm, jump in
a cab right away with no problems. Get to PH (Planet Hollywood) and check our
bags. The hotel/casino was hoppin with beautiful people and I felt sorta out
of place wearing jeans and a t-shirt with a zip-up jacket (flying from MN) Most of the people were dressed to impress. A very hip and trendy casino. Now
we didn't have a room until the next day...thought it'd be a fun and exciting
way to start the trip. We walk the strip and decide to eat at Bills gambling
hall (been there before, it's reasonable, and we figured it'd be a good spot to
kill some time) Walked some more, saw the dueling pianos play, had plenty to
drink but had to be careful since we didn't have a room to pass out in yet. Played a little
blackjack as the sun was coming up, but didn’t have much luck.
Finally get our room after being up for 30+ hours around noon (not the best way
to start off the trip). Had placed a few sports bets before crashing for a few
hours, get up and watch the NBA All-Star game go OVER for a win. Went 3-1 with
the help of some college ball too. Got some eats at the Venetian food court
late that night after the game and just called it an early night. (again,
paying for pulling an all nighter)
Monday we had made plans to be tourists and have a local friend take us around
town with her friends. First we placed a few bets on some college ball, than drank
a few “Fat Tuesdays” slushy drinks on our way to the shark reef aquarium at Mandalay Bay (free tickets). Ate supper at
Battista’s (shrimp scampi with free house wine). After we ate, had tickets to
the Beatles LOVE Cirque du soleil show at the Mirage. Great show, and I
thought it was well worth the $. After the show, checked the scores and went
3-0 on my bets!
Tuesday ate the buffet at PH which was pretty good. Played
some blackjack and left the table ahead. Placed some bets that went 2-2. Local
friend picked us up again and took us to the Las Vegas sign to snap a picture, than all
the way back to the Stratosphere for some site seeing. Being she was a local,
she picked up some Louie Anderson tickets for that night at Excalibur. Since
they were free, and Louie is a fellow Minnesotan, I figured a few laughs couldn’t
hurt. He actually put on a good show. Had a few $10 drinks at the bar and
called it a night.
Wednesday was spent playing some 1-2 nl poker at PH for a
couple hours, had a few drinks, chatted with a few cute girls from Tennessee at the table, ate at Margaritaville in the afternoon with our
local friend. She knew one of the managers there and was able to get 40%
knocked off the bill! She than dropped us off downtown for the night. I played
some blackjack at the Golden Nugget (didn’t fair too well), but my buddy won $1100
on a penny slot betting 50 cents, watched a few of the light shows, and we
capped off the night with a pizza and pitcher for $10 at Binions. Went 2-2
again on the sports.
Thursday we ended up eating lunch at Pinks…I had a double
bacon burrito (tortilla wrapped around 2 dogs, 3 pieces of bacon, and stuffed
with chili and cheese) and some chili cheese fries to add to the madness. I don’t recommend this
being your last meal before getting on the plane back home! Played some more
blackjack and was able to go on a nice run and win some more money back before
packing up and heading to the airport.
Wow, first off I'd like to give Joe Nathan a big FUCK YOU for blowing that save. Then I'd like to thank the Phil Cuzzi for blowing the call.
I'm a huge Twins fan...AND a Yankee hater, so the events that took place last night really had me upset, and depressed. I'm a season ticket holder for the Twins, and I'm not sure if I want to go to the game tomorrow anymore after seeing what happened last night. I've seen too many Yankee celebrations at the Dome...but since it could be the last game at that stadium, I'll go, cheer loud, and then have closer with that stadium one last time.
Then next year is outdoor baseball!
Wow, just got back from game 163, and it was a hell of a game! I'm a die hard Twins fan, right now I'm just trying to wind down and get ready to get to bed. I work early in the morning, but I just wanted to share at how amazing, and crazy that game was.
Seemed like 5 games were jammed into one tonight...so many crucial spots for both teams to take the lead, pitchers stepping up and getting it done, and not to mention the crowd of 54,000 plus! Standing up and cheering on the Twins like that was something I've never been apart of...playoff games in the past haven't even come close.
On the way out, the city was alive and well...Vikes just got done beating the Pack the night before, the Wild had just won in OT, and the Twins are on fire heading into the playoffs...it may be true that they'll be alittle sluggish come tomorrow, but these boys never quit!
It was by far the greatest game I've ever been too...I took a short video of the celebration so I can show it to my friends, family, and childrens children...Just an amazing game to be apart of!
Was anyone else there? Get chills watching the game on tv? I actually took the Tigers tonight for a small wager, just incase the Twins couldn't pull through...let's just say that was the greatest wager lost I've ever had!
Let's keep rollin Twins!
Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you all in on a trip I just booked with some of my buddies. Here's what it includes.
-Coach bus ride from Twin Cities to Green Bay
-1 night in a hotel
-Tailgating 3-4 hours before kickoff (noon CT start) all food and beer included.
-Tickets to the game (Vikes vs Packers in Lambeau)
-Bus ride back to Twin Cities Sunday after the game
-$410 for all of the above
Any advice or thoughts?!
I love betting football, and I'm a Vikings fan! I enjoy watching football from the comfort of my couch, with a cold refreshing brew and some wings. While I keep an eye on my fantasy team, and my football bets. There's no way I can pass this trip up...with a chance that Farve is wearing purple going to Lambeau!?!? This could be a story I tell my grandchildren!
My last bet was the NBA finals game...and my last trip to the casino/card club was 5 weeks ago. I'm not saying I'm quitting, but it's sorta nice to have a break from sports betting. Anyone else? I'm already looking forward to the NFL, and my fantasy football leagues starting up in the next month or so. I've been able to save up more , and hope to buy a house in the next 6-12 months. And being only 22, I'm somewhat nervous, yet again looking forward to the challenge of living the "American Dream".
