I'm going to say it. Broncos going to make the playoffs and even further in 2011 because of Tim Tebow. I watched ESPN's documentary film on him called The Chosen One and I got chills. Timmy can't throw, but he can lead. His ability to lead an inferior group of men reminds me of the movie 300.
Here's the link for The Chosen One if you havent seen it http://youtu.be/aLUXfCA98XM
The World Cup is just about to begin in a amtter of minutes with the first match of the global event with Mexico up against the host nation South Africa. Mexico fields a very strong team and is the favorite to win their group and should be a very strong contender in this year's world cup as in every world cup. The second match of the world cup is France versus Uruaguay. I have very mixed feelings about France and Uruaguay. I believe France cheated their way into the World Cup, but at the same time they have always been a favorite team of mine to root for in every World Cup. Should this year be any exception? I don't know if Uruaguay is a good enough of a squad to beat France on any given day, but my best friend does have roots in that country and so I will root for them since France shouldn't havent qualified for the World Cup. However when it comes to contests and gambling I believe I have to do the proper thing and pick Mexico and France to come out as winners today. Alright the world cup is about to start so let's get on with this! Go Team USA! But as far as where my ESPN Streak For The Cash goes go Mexico and France!
Does the US have a legitimate shot of winning the World Cup this year? I want to hear your thoughts and opinions! But first let me give you mine!
When predicting these types of events you have to look at where the money's at and the money's on Spain to win the World Cup outright. The odds of the US winning the World Cup outright is +8800 meaning if you place a $100 bet on the US to win the World Cup outright you'd get a return of $8800! Yeah, that would be sweet wouldn't it. However, when reality sets in and you really sit down and think about the US chances of winning any group let alone a World Cup you know that wagering money on the US team to win the World Cup is literally like burning money.
You could place a bet on the US to win for fun, like a $5 bet, but do you need another reason to cheer for the Americans if you're an American when they're your home country and underdogs nonetheless. Possibly if you're a degenerate gambler lol but other than that you have more than enough of a reason to watch and cheer on the Americans.
Team US does look good however. They can advance to the single elimination playoffs. Should be interesting to watch the US go up against England in their first World Cup match in 2010. Has our game improved? We shall find out after our meeting with the global powerhouse England squad.
After that matchup with England should we be able to better judge if the Americans will be legitmate contenders at the World Cup in South Africa.
What happened to the Celtics in Game 1 should not happen again tonight if Boston plays hard. The Celtics are just as talented aas the Lakers. When you have Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce on your team, you're expected to win period. TThere's no excuse for losing by a wide margin to a Lakers team that's just as competitive and hungry as you are. Sure the uunstoppable duo of Kobe Bryant and Paul Gasol is hard to contain, but that doesnt mean you can't stop the rest of the Laker team. Boston needs to execute their game plan and use their veteran's experience and leadership to set an example and set the tone for the rest of the series. And I believe that they will be capable of this which is why I'm picking the Celtics +6 to beat the Lakers straight up tonight. And in the small probability that they don't, the Celtics should just give up and go play golf. But they won't. They'll come back with a vengeance to even the series at 1-1.
It feels good to follow sports again. I stayed away from it because it was eating too much of my time. Now I realize that sports is a diversion and offers an escape from reality.
I hope the Angels beat the Red Sox tonight. I don't have any money on the game but I picked the Angels in the Streak Survivor game. I'm not going to lie, it'd be exciting to travel to Las Vegas to bet on sports again. I love the thrill of gambling and the initial rush of it. After all, why make yourself miserable when you don't have to right?
I am going to follow sports and do things as long as it makes me happy. I'm not perfect in any way shape or form and I dont pretend to be!
