I did what everyone should not do, do poor money management,
Just wanted to share my weekend with everyone to explain what brought this about.
I had USC +8 last saturday for 200 (just in case you guys don't know, game went to triple OT and in college football, team needs to attempt a 2-pt conversion if they score a TD, and Stanford scores, after both teams score 7,7,7,7 in the first 2 OTs) so i get a push instead of getting a winner.
Before I go to bed, I decide to place my NFL bets for Sunday. I bet my usual 4-team, 12-point teaser, which I'm sure everyone would say is a sucker bet *I have done pretty well the past 3 weeks.
So because of frustration, I decide to bet 500 to win 412 on saints-1.5, ravens-.5 or basically a pick'em, giants+2.5, Niners+3.0. So I try to go to sleep, and I kept on going back and forth, thinking did i just dump 500???
So I try to sleep, and then the power goes off! (we had a big snowstorm here in New Hampshire) so obviously, I am so pissed and worried because I wouldn't be able to hedge or something if needed if the power would be out for awhile. so when i wake up around noontime, there is still no power,
I decide to go out and play poker in a local card room. When I get there, there is power and all the 1 pm NFL games were on, and i saw the rams up 24-0.. upon seeing that, i asked for a beer, and was just disgusted. I then decide to buy-in for a cheap $60 poker tournament to pass time, and end up losing in 4 hands. I lost with Ace Queen against pocket 5s flop Ace and two 5s. Anyway, no poker talk here hehe.
So I then ask the guys what the Pats game score is in halftime (remember, I live in NH so everyone at the card room/sports bar are Pats homers) so i find out its 17-10 steelers, I call my book, get the 2nd half line, it's pats-3.5, i decide to bet 315 to win 300. to cut the story short, the pats lost. at this point, i am stuck $815 on two bonehead plays, so i tell myself, I'll bet the eagles 1st half for $200 and eagles-3 for $500, but didn't have the guts to pull the trigger because i was stuck a lot already. *you know what happened. eagles up 24 at the half and covered fulltime.
Which leads to tonight, I was stuck a lot. So i told myself, just forget money management, and if i lose i'm done for awhile because i have to pay the man.
I have been a chargers backer for a few years, but after reading so many posts here that the chiefs were a good play and honest to goodness, i heard jon gruden liked the chiefs, i decided to bet the chiefs. i put $110 to win 100 first half under 22.5 $150 even money on KC halftime+1.5 which won.
I also had the chiefs-3 $324 to win $300, under 44.5 $216 to win $200. and KC moneyline $100 to win $145. last play i had were two prop bets, which i nearly wanted to kill myself for doing. i had Jackie Battle+15.5 yards (rush and pass) against ryan matthews $230 to win $200 and Bowe+5 yards receiving against vincent jackson for $240 to win $200.
The Battle prop was good as dead when i saw how the chargers were giving plays for matthews (he caught over 50 yards too)
So to end my story (sorry for sounding like a drama queen) when san diego was in fg range with a minute left, i was supposed to lose my $100 ml play, push the kc+3, win the under 44.5, lose my two prop bets (the bowe prop was painful as jackson caught a 27 yard pass with 3rd and 18 a few minutes before to make it 49-42 yards) and you guys know what happened. botched snap, chiefs get the ball. cassell throws to bowe for a 20 yard pass, go to overtime. i then win my bowe prop, kc+3, kc moneyline and under! just lost the battle prop by a few yards (matthews got injured and if there was one more quarter battle would've caught up hehe)
So after all of that, i was up $50 whole dollars. just saying, nothing is impossible in sports betting. good luck everyone, and i hope you enjoyed my story as it was not some bs story hope some of you could relate to what i shared.
